I want to feed the part of me that gets excited by something unpredictable.

DAYS SOBER – WHAT TO EXPECT

How can I be right all the time if others can be right some of the time? Not only did alcohol make me smart, it also made me impervious to the alternative viewpoints of almost everyone I encountered. I stop drinking my intelligence potion, work on myself for a few years, and whammo! Just like that, my ears are more than just sunglasses holders.

I remember the taste going down — and coming up. What a great feeling of belonging I had had — something I had never felt before. Shortly this led to nearly daily drinking or smoking marijuana, which at times was easier to obtain.

Recovery Connection

While he’s been building a side gig as a noted author, Tweedy has also been on an extraordinarily productive run with Wilco. Just a year and a half after their double LP Cruel Country, the band will return on Sept. 29 with Cousin, their 13th studio album. New Life House has helped young men stay sober for over 35 years. You go through all that quitting and getting sober. And it ain’t all that??!!

None of my roommates, five in a dorm suite, drank or partied like I did. Within a week I was able to find another room with three sophomore roommates who were just like me. Within a short period of time, harassing the fourth roommate with obnoxious merriment, I was able to convince that non-partying roommate to swap rooms. I again excelled in school, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and several individual honors.
